Free inventory software

Free is a price. It is not yet a workflow.

Free inventory software can be exactly the right place to start. The useful question is not whether zero euros sounds attractive, a fairly accessible intellectual breakthrough, but what remains usable when several people change stock, somebody needs movement history or the team has to prepare a purchase.

01

Start with the need

For one person and a small catalogue, a free spreadsheet can work for a long time. It records quantity, threshold and supplier without migration or subscription. A free app becomes interesting when mobile access, scanning or a more guided interface makes updates easier on the floor.

List the daily actions before choosing: remove one unit, receive a delivery, verify physical stock, find a product and export data. A free plan covering those actions is more valuable than a long feature list where none of the features solve the actual operational problem.

02

Read the limits

Free plans often limit users, item count, history, integrations or automation. That is not a moral failure; operating a service costs money. The important part is checking that the limit does not appear precisely on the action that would make shared inventory useful.

Look at the exit as well. CSV export, clear documentation and recoverable data reduce the risk of trying a tool. Free becomes considerably less free if leaving means retyping hundreds of references or rebuilding history by hand.

03

Count time too

Software price is only one inventory cost. Ten minutes every week finding the right file, two emergency orders or a repeated physical count because nobody trusts the quantity can quickly exceed a modest subscription.

That does not make paid software automatically profitable. Measure the current friction and give it a realistic value. If the spreadsheet works, keep it. If several people are already working around the system, the displayed software price is probably no longer the only variable.

04

Compare honestly

Invumi targets shared operational inventory with movements, checks, thresholds and forecasting. Depending on the plan available when you read this page, it may not be the broadest free option. Public pricing on the main site remains the source to verify before making a decision.

Sortly, Odoo, Zoho and others also change tiers, trials and pricing models. Compare user counts, item limits, export and functional scope against the workflow you actually have rather than selecting only the box where the price begins at zero.
